Velvet Birdcage is on the top floor of a barn building. There are approximately 10 stairs to the building and regretfully no wheelchair access. THERE ARE NO TOILET FACILITIES! - unless you are ok using a port-a-style toilet outside of the building - not exactly glamorous (we’re working on it!). Once parked, it's situated through the gate and passed the barn - please feel free to use before your appointment if preferred.
You have exclusive use of our boutique, therefore we kindly ask that you wait until your appointment time to come in please.
Bridal appointments: 1.5 hour time slot
Bridal sale dress appointment: 1 hour
Bridesmaid: 1 hour
Prom: 45 minute
Fitting: 30-45 minutes
We do not charge for appointments. Please let us know ASAP if you would like to CANCEL as we often have a waiting list.
Yes, there is ample free parking.
We have seating for the Bride and 3 additional guests.
Children are welcome, but we must stress that we accept no responsibility for their care or safety during appointments. We regret than we cannot look after children during appointments. Also, the studio isn’t a very suitable place for children in terms of safety, and unfortunately we have no baby-changing facilities.
First of all, we offer a totally relaxed, totally non intimidating, non pressured environment. We have fun with our customers, no hard-sell! Our aim is to make our customers feel special and your experience is of paramount importance to us.
We will leave you to look at the dresses and pick out anything you'd like to try on. We also select the dresses that we think will work. We then start the process of elimination.
We can often change fabrics, add straps, shorten or lengthen etc. You can also chose the top of one dress and the bottom of another.
If you find a dress you like, we discuss any changes you'd like to make, we measure you (fully clothed and in private), discus delivery time, and take a 50% deposit. Or leave you to go away and think about it.
8 months. A rush service is sometimes available and we also have an 'off the peg' collection.
Your dress may still need some alterations/adjustments which is not included in the price of your dress. Our alterations costs are very reasonable as they are undertaken in-house.
